What sticks to stainless steel?

What sticks to stainless steel?
I was itching to buy my car a present, so I've ordered a stainless 2 1/2-in. cat-back exhaust system from Speed Force Racing. Does anyone have one of these, and if so, are you satisfied with its fit, sound, etc? (So much for doing research before the purchase!). Mine's coming with the round (instead of oval) muffler, since Tim at Speed Force says it's quieter.
I'm buying it for what I hope is a slight performance gain and lighter weight. I'm not crazy about the whole polished stainless look. Is there any paint/coating that will adhere to the stainless muffler? I'd like to paint it flat black.
Thanks in advance!

Doug,
I have seen a couple of Deloran's painted, so I know it can be done, as a refinisher I got to tell you it would be a lot of work. I guess it depends on how bad you want it, and how hungrey your painter is.

If you want to color the stainless, that should be easy enough. You can do it with paint like normal mild steel, though you would want to etch the surface a bit to give tooth. My guess is they did an electro polish on it as actually polishing it would be crazy on labor. This is a common practice in the marine industry for stainless and as Tim is in the heart of that land, I'm almost sure that is what is being done.
Another option would be a chemical dip to put a black surface on. Same deal you do to a gun to blue it. You can get cold process blues/blacks and do yourself for pretty cheap. Drop me a line and I can steer you to a chemical company that will sell you the fixings.

Doug,
Please keep us posted about the SFR S2 catback system. I am very curious to hear what it sounds like and how it may effect performance. I would really like to hear more of my exhaust note than the stock exhaust delivers. I would also like the engine to rev more freely.
