Yeah, I've done this a couple times... Helped my freind with his floppy mirror, turns out BMW 5 series have the same mirror attachment system, and I recently had to remove/replace the mirror glass on the turbo.

this did not work. so I finally took it apart as
I like the access point under the mirror vs. in the slot. I can see it was previously fixed w/ a hack of splicing the wires and did not use loctite to secure the large hollow screw. the splicing of the wire cause this to be a huge pain as the remaining wire was not enough to re-splice. don't cut/spice wires. now i have a headache instead of a 30-45 minute fix
