Hokay, so say it's a beautiful day, near the 70's, and you decide it's a great day to take the roof off while ya drive. ya park it in a place you trust, ya lock the doors, and the doors lock (obviously). then ya drive around a little more, and you get somewhere you don't trust so ya put the roof back on, but you're feeling lazy so you just want to put it in place and not worry about it. roof goes back on, doors close, ya lock the doors, and the car automatically latches the roof! I found this out today, and god damn am I impressed!

The Porsche engineers thought of everything, didn't they?!

er... i mean.... it's not supposed to do that: sounds like your car's broken. I'll take it off your hands, though!

Whoa. I didn't know that, and I'm impressed too! Was this on the 951 or the 924?

Mine does the same. Er, well, it did until the #$#^%@ gears stripped for approximately the 463rd time and I got fed up and put in manual latches...

Is this covered by an extended warranty too?

All the control modules that snap to the steering column are the same regardless of year.

Yep, and it will also lock if you start driving and reach a certain speed. But I found that out accidentally when I replaced my sunroof relay and everything was working properly!

Good to know thanks.

So even if the part numbers are different they should work?

The control module for the central locking system is on the steering column?

It's things like this that really make you want that extra weight that people are always trying to remove. Sometimes I look at my mom's 944 beside my 968 and wonder how the hell it can possibly weigh 300 lbs less than my 968... but it's 300lbs of convenient wholesome goodness.

My flippin sunroof won't re-latch in back, no matter what I do. So it flops around when it's windy or when I close the door. Pain in the ***. But fixing it looks brutal. Timing belts, water pump, clutch, no problem. Troubleshooting the gears and electrical stuff for the sunroof... I don't think I can do that.
