Is this the steering wheel lock? (see picture)
Is this (see picture) the pin that is supposed to get cut off?
When turning the key, it only moves in/out about 1mm. Does that sound right? Just cut this pin off and I'm done? I don't want to cut the wrong thing...

That's it.
Such little movement had me questioning if that was correct. I ground it down, installed it, and it worked. I'll leave the pic up for future reference.

NASA requires that the steering lock be removed. I guess the reason being that if you kill the ignition (because of a fire or...) while moving and move the key too far you won't lock your steering and lose directional control while stopping.

Just get rid of the whole ignition switch assembly...
