NoVa, MD, DC - Hershey Prep Picnic
WHAT IT IS:
OK, everyone in the NoVa, MD, DC area...here's an idea - On Sunday, April 20th, I'm offering up my place to get together to have a pre-Hershey prep party. Come to clean, come to fix, come to just hang out in the (hopefully) springtime weather. We all know it usually tries to rain on Hershey weekend, so I'm hoping the week before will be "safe".
WHAT I HAVE:
I have room for 3 cars simultaneously in my garage, 4 if you count my other office/warehouse, plenty of outdoor parking, 2 Porter Cable 7424 dual orbital, 1 Makita 9227 rotary, lots of rags/towels/supplies. Also at your disposal will be my 33 gal air compressor, impact wrench, etc., a couple of shop vacs, a torque wrench in case anyone needs to put wheels back on, and a pretty decent set of BASIC tools. There's two floor jacks, one low racing style for the 968, a bigger 4 ton that will fit under most 944, 4 jack stands, and a set of wood blocks for under the wheels as described on 968forums.
I have Mahle oil filters (6 bucks each reimbursement - I buy in bulk) and crush gaskets if anyone wants to change oil, but you'll need to bring your own oil - see below.
WHAT TO BRING:
I do not have any Porsche specialty tools, so if you want to do belts or other mechanical type stuff, you'll need to bring whatever tools you may want to use or share along with you.
Also bring any extra buckets and/or your favorite cleaning supplies. I will be inviting a local fellow detailer to see if she wants to peddle some of her excellent products. I'm sure she can provide some samples for folks to try. I've got a call into a PDR guy, but haven't got a confirmation yet.
Also bring any food and drink goodies you'd like to share. I'll supply an assortment of beverages, (there's also a grocery store and a state store VERY close by), coolers, condiments and get my wife to make some of her super duper-rific burgers. I'll also supply the grill and the match!
Please respond via PM, e-mail, or post here so I can guage interest and get a potential head count. Also indicate if you will be washing, cleaning, or other work you may want to do. In case of rain, we'll most likely just cancel, but since I'm here most of the waking hours anyway, I'll be around in case anyone happens to be in the area!

Bump...
Have my PDR guy checking his availability...should be able to post to confirm within the next day or so. It would help him if he knew in advance he'd have some takers on his services. I'm going to get him to confirm pricing for our group as well.

My 87 16V needs belts, water pump, front engine seals. I've got all the parts and tensioning tools. I doubt I'd be able to do it in one day though, nor have the heart to even try it in someone else's garage!
I might still be game for coming out and cleaning the car up, hanging out, and maybe trying to give my paint a few hours of attention (needs clay and polish, wax, etc.). Like jsaindc I'll have to check back in on the thread to confirm.

Darryl was nice enough to offer his heated garage last year in the middle of winter for me and a few guys to do a belt / cam tower gasket change. It took us most of the day but that was with half of the time spent on the cam tower gasket. We did not do seals and water pump however...
