Bobzdar, are you using the k050335, or the 7mm shorter k050330?

Good question - and I actually think it's a 4 rib belt instead of 5, but since it's only driving the alternator we haven't had any issues. We have a spare or two in the kit of parts we take with us to the races, but it's not at my house right now so I can't check. I do know it's quite tight and rather than pull it over the pulley, we actually loosened the alternator to get it on and then had one guy pry the alt in place while the other put the bolt in to secure it.

Ok..good tip. My concern was just the belt being too tight, the tale of destruction at the start of this thread made me nervous but truthfully my current belt is way too loose, so I'll be getting the slightly shorter one. I will report back here tomorrow.

Just want to report back, I am now running the short KO50330 belt and its perfect. Tension is great, tight but not too tight and the alternator charges 13.8 volts like it should. I'll chime in this thread again if it snaps and takes out my timing belt, or if the tension shears off my crank pulley (and takes out my timing belt)

Edit: just so everyone knows, this works just fine on a late car too. I am running this belt on my 951.

I'm going to resurrect this as I'm having the same issue. I can't source a Gates belt here in the UK but of more concern is that the image in #1 has the code 5pk841. The only belt I can find here in the UK with that code is this https://www.bearingsrus.co.uk/5pk841...SABEgJDufD_BwE
which seems to think its only 841mm (hence the code I assume). Is there a reason the lengths appear different?
Does anyone know the 5pk code for the longer belt, K050335,and is this just a Gates code or an industry one.
Thanks all

There's an actual 6PK-0840 belt in existence that fits perfectly. The Infinity q45 used it from 1997-2001 www.mblusa.com - Part number M585-L. Infinity OE part number A1720-1P102. Drive belt - Water Pump.

Why not just use the AC-Delete bracket as intended to delete the AC? I did this years ago and never had any of the irritating issues brought up here. Doing it correctly was maybe more expensive, yes, but I didn't destroy my crank pulley and don't have any beslt destruction/squealing issues. That lack of head-ache alone was worth the small incremental cost.

I used the K050330 and it was a little too long on the late models.
The belt will squeel at idle 50% of the time.
Does anyone know a gates belt which is slightly shorter and will fit perfect for us with late model 944's?

Because a lot of 944 owners have caviar taste, but a tuna fish budget.
