Default low oil pressure when car starts up

this just started happening mabey a week ago. ive noticed when i turn the car on, the oil pressure guage reads about 3.0-3.5
but when i hit the gas, it goes higher, normal if im not mistaken.

but shouldnt it be pegged to the 5 when the oil is still cold? (thats the way its always been for me)
im running 20w-50 and i just topped off the oil a couple days ago

i dont think its the sender, but could it be? and what else could be wrong?

It's probably a lazy sender. Just be gentle until you get some heat into the oil. Worry when you are at temp and driving and the oil pressure drops. Thats trouble.

for comparison...my S2 is also running 20W-50. At cold-start, I show about 4.5 to 5 at idle.

After warm up, it's about 2 at idle and back up to about 4 to 4.5 while driving.

Not sure about the cost, but it's a PITA because it's under the oil cooler. A crow foot wrench really help with getting in out/back in. Just make sure you get the wires on the same way, otherwise you're gauge will be pegged at 5.

sender isnt that bad- get a skinny adjustable wrench and a 7mm wrench. One bolts on and the other just clips onto a connection. Make sure you dont crank the bolts down or you'll break them off very easily. Oil will come out when you pull it off- but not much.
