Default For those that track their 944's....

What 'stuff' do you bring with you to the track?

Keeping in mind that I will be driving my car up to the event, here's what's on my mind:

12v compressor
Husky Air tank (pre-filled)
Torque wrench
metric tool set
jack / hockey puck / kneeling pad / plywood for under jack
digital air gage
bug & tar cleaner
windshield cleaner / rain-x
rags / papertowels
oil / antifreeze
tarp / plastic garbage bags
mechanix gloves

I am considering having my wife bring up (in her SUV) a spare front and spare rear wheel/tire (even though I think the tires are uni-directional...they'd get me home regardless of which side I put them on).

Anything else?? Should I get a spare DME relay (I currently do not have one in the car...probably should anyway)....what else?????

TIA !

When you get to the track, look for the biggest fanciest trailer rig with a 944 in it. Park next to them, you'll be all set.

Maybe toss in a few hose clamps, extra set of brake pads, folding chair? I pull my trailer with a full size cargo van and it's FULL. Be prepared, but don't worry yourself about forgetting something. People at the track are always willing to lend a hand/tool/part.

Hello?
Your 944 must be different than mine, or these above items were already in the car. The following ride around in those cubbies in the back of my car all the time:

2 large water bottles (~3 liters)
socket wrench set
towels
6 qts oil
big LED light thing
gloves
my 3rd brake light (can't get it to stay on the glass...)

We Bring
Track wheels & tires
small floor jack
tool box w/ tools and torque wrench
pressure gauge & digital temp gauge
air tank & factory 12V compressor
duct tape for lights
windex & paper towels
shop towels
baby wipes
folding chairs
A HAT
sun screen
cooler with water & drinks etc.
tarp
windshield shade
quart of oil
spare lug nuts
clip board w/paper and pencil
Camera
stopwatch

and don't forget your HELMET,GLOVES ETC.

most of these things are carried in two plastic tubs that stay packed in the garage between events
we bring an SUV to carry all this stuff when the event is very far. If I drive to the event on the track tires
the floor jack and air bottle stay home. the tubs, tool box and chairs fit in the car along with an overnight bag if we fold the back seat down.

We keep a list of things that stay packed and add/remove things as we see the need.

Track Checklist
Note: Many of these things don't apply to a person in a street car, so don't worry about it if you don't have a neck brace, for instance.
Required
• Helmet! - a very bad (and easy) thing to forget
• Tech form - Important
• Car Numbers – required on both sides of the car and rear, a minimum of eight inches high (we will have racer’s tape available at the track for this purpose)
• Tow hook installed or tow point established
• Cotton or Nomex clothing ONLY. No leather or synthetics allowed.

Highly Recommended (not strictly required)
• Driving Suit or long sleeve cotton shirt and cotton pants (although we allow short sleeve shirts and shorts, it is highly discouraged and potentially harmful in the case of an accident)
• Fire Extinguisher
• Extra Brake pads
• Brake fluid
• Drinking Water (Speed Ventures provides water but just in case we run out…)
• Engine Oil - bring a quart or two, just in case
• Hat - for Sun
• Sunglasses
• Sun Screen
• Folding chair

Optional
• Duct tape
• Distilled Water - Radiator
• EZ-UP Canopy - Ideally there would be one for every 4 cars or so, because the sun can be brutal. Hopefully everyone who has one will bring one (and it makes you very popular too).
• Windex - You will kill many bugs on your way to the track.
• Brake Bleeder line
• Racing Neck Brace
• Racing shoes
• Camera
• Hose Clamps
• Jack
• Jack stands
• Jumper Cables
• Service manual
• Torque wrench
• Other tools (sockets, wrenches, pliers...)
• Grease
• Hand Soap
• Ice chest
• Map/directions/phone number of hotel
• Map/directions/phone number of track
• Paper Towels
• Rags
• Run Flat aerosol cans
• Tie Wraps
• Stopwatch
• Race tires
• Spare tire - you never know
• Tire pump
• Tire pressure gauge
• Tire pyrometer
• Flashlight
• Funnel for oil
• Gloves – disposable

I see a lot of people who bring the blue painter's tape for masking off front painted areas and wheel wells. Didn't see that one explicitly listed so far....

Cheers,

Keith

Spare brake pads, whatever it takes to bleed the brakes and assorted zip ties. I have also found that safety wire and hose clamps of different diameters could help hold things together for a safer ride home should problems develop. If you have the ability to have a spare set of tires I would recommend it. If you have spare parts, bring them.

In several years of driving the car to events on street tires I had only one minor problem with a boost line which put the car into limp mode. Since buying a trailer I have found new and creative ways to cut the weekend short to to mechanical failure..........

Depends.. if the track is far away and I don't know anyone - I bring everything, including the kitchen sink.

If it's the local track, I make real friendly-like with whomever has a trailer, and leave my tools & gear at home.

Does that include a spare transmission?
