Default What is this?

This is what was leaking the other night. What is it? It's the brown thing in the left corner. The hose is leaking.

Power Steering Reservoir.
Where is it leaking from? The reservoir itself?
The fitments on the bottom of the reservoir?
Where the reservoir lines meet the PS pump?

Wow, thanks for the fast replies. It's leaking from the hose underneath. Shall I just tighten the bolt up?

yea, tighten it up and see if that does the trick. If not, there may be a small hole in the hose somewhere, and thus you will need to get a new piece of hose.

Good Luck!

go to the homepage.
(www.rennlist.com) in your browser.
Click where it says "Rennlist Areas" and then click on "Membership";
It feels good when you get your member card. It just does..

Happy to Hear you fixed your leak!

If tightening the hose up doesnt work, i recommend going to your nearest auto parts store and picking up Gunk power steering fluid. This is designed to help stop the leak in the hoses or wherever the fluid may be leaking from. It definately worked for me!

I put new hose clamps on mine and fixed one hose, then had to repeat a few months later on the other hose. If you have to take the hose off, be sure to bleed the PS system. You'll be surprised how well the system works when it doesn't leak the the PS belt isn't slipping. Ask me how I know, I had to fix the PS pump tensioner, rebuild the PS pump, and fix both those hoses.

If you need to replace the Return hose that is part Rubber, and Part Metal Tubing, you can get some Universal Power Steering Line from Napa.
Check 1984 Ford F-250, 7.5L V8. Part number is: 71899

I could have sworn I was quoted over $100 for the factory line, though DCAuto shows it as $45 if needed.

almost everything at DCAuto is used; in which case $45 makes sense.
