Default what should I replace with my transmission?

In a month or so I plan on replacing my transmission. What would you reccomend I replace while doing this job? My clutch isn't slipping but doesnt feel as crisp as it did when I first bought the car. Would the clutch be a good idea to replace while doing this? is dropping the transmission part of a clutch job anyway? Also if I'm putting in an S2 transmission, should I keep the existing early 944 clutch/ bellhousing?

The clutch is a little deeper in but you do have to pull the tranny to do the clutch so putting a new clutch in there while the trans is out wouldn't be a bad idea.

so it can be done

I'm planning some type of engine swap possibly this summer, S2, turbo, 968, LS1? who knows depending on what i can get my hands on...

but I don't want to waste my perfectly good running 2.5L N/A block with no leaks and in great shape?

does anyone know any cars that could take a 944 engine as a swap?

hmmm a 944 powered camaro... I was thinking of something small, and really light. Something that the 145 hp 8 vavle can feel good in. Maybe a kit car? like a custom roadster or something?

hahaha that would be awesome! I wonder how it'd feel having a 944 engine and tranny in something that weighs nearly nothing.

I suppose I could just sell it, or keep it for backup

the number of blocks and cranks will get less in number in the open market.

I just picked up another full '84 NA for $400. I will be selling off the engine bit by bit
block head oil pump etc

I saw a guy that swapped a 944 drivetrain into a VW golf. Converted to RWD and everything. That thing was awesome.

Swapping the tranmission is about 1/3 of the clutch job, maybe even a 1/4. I can swap a trans in two hours, clutch a bit longer, more like 8.

Quick Reply: what should I replace with my transmission?
