Default She left me by the side of the road....

Well it was going to happen sometime.....
I was always warned if you have a 944 keep a tow truck on speed dial....

Coming into work today everything seemed normal... then suddenly as I am slowing for an intersection ..... stall.....

I cranked and the tach bounced but nothing...
Popped the hood and thanks to my Lindsey fuel pressure gauge I saw 0 PSI....

I then wiggled the DME relay and removed and reinserted fuse #34... ZOOM... started right up...

Got out on I-95 (very dangerous with an average speed of 80 in the slow lane) and plah.... she quit again...
Again I showed 0 psi and again I wiggled the dme relay...

nothing this time... Some Rennlister (I forgot his name already) stopped and offered some help!!!...
but alas.. the darn car didn't want to run... sometimes I would get 40 psi and she would start only to suddenly drop to 0 and stall....

The last time it was exactly when the turbo cooling pump kicked on...
weird.. everything else works....

So tonight I swap the DME relay and hope for the best....

Yeah...Having another lister stop when I was waiting for the roll back was cool...
He asked me if I was going to Hershey this year.... Guess I better LOL...

I really hope that whatever it is stays broke until I find it....

I hate it when a car dies suddenly just to jump back to life in an hour or so....
Makes you want to break something else so you at least know you fixed something...

Intermittent problems are the worst... Heres hoping that it is still broke tonight

Are the new relays sold online any better? or is it just a item that wears out?

I actually wired in a little switch so I can turn on the fuel pump and override what the DME relay is doing. No need to carry a spare.

Awesome!! Glad you stepped up!......
I got it towed home for $70 bucks...

Popped the hood on the white 88 na automatic (waiting for an engine anyway) and grabbed the DME relay...

Tried to start the 951 one more time... no joy...
popped the 88 DME relay in and drove it all day sunday!!....

New DME relay on order from Paragon... Maybe I will buy a couple tthree or four extras (one for each car) LOL.....

When I finally got to work a few people came up and asked "was that you on the side of the road?".....
I said "yup that was me" and each one of them said... "oh I would have stopped but I didn't know you had such a cool car, I figured it was somebody els".....lol.... It was funny how all three of them said almost the exact same thing...
I guess they know I have a F150 as a DD so they always expected me to be in the truck....

Thanks for stopping again. It's good to know there are still some nice people out there... I doubt anyone would have stopped if I had been in my truck....

Good to hear it was a simple fix, The blazer was my DD, until I got my 944, two days after I stopped I blew a head gasket on the blazer, might have it back together enough tomorrow to start her up and see if the new seals are good to go, then it will back to the garage for the 44 for the trans job I told you about...

Again beautiful car, and good to hear it was just a relay...

I keep a spare DME relay in the glovebox. I have had issues with electric fuel pumps sometimes seizing up when they get hot, but then working fine again when they cool off. Usually they give some warning and the pressure drops off before the seize. Just a thought...
