Default Suspension Setup

Front: Double adjustable ride height Konis with 250 lb springs.

Rear: Koni adjustable shocks.

What setting should I set the rears to?

Start at full soft and work your way up from there. Youll probably end up somewhere in the middle.

Dan -- need the rest of the picture -- what's your rear torison bar / helper spring rate? And what swaybars are you running?

Right now running stock torsion bars and no helper springs. Rear 19 mm adjustable bat set on medium and a 26.8 bar on front. If all goes well and Tom is not mad at me I will be installing a 30 mm bar on the front and moving the rear bar to the stiffest setting.

Dan:
OK: I would set the rear sway bar to full stiff. As for the rear Konis: I would set them half-way between full soft and the mid-point. This should give you a neutral attitude with a slight tendancy to oversteer in tighter corners (like at AX).

Personally, I feel the 19mm rear swaybar is better matched with a stock front sway. If you go with the M030 fronnt bar, you may consider upgrading the rear bar to a Weltmeister unit, or (if you can find one) a Turbo Cup rear swaybar (which are made of unobtainium)

Just to clarify, as far as setting the rears you would go 1/4 stiff or 3/4 soft.?

And for the sways you r saying that a good setup would be to set rear sway on stiff and keep front stock sway?

Koni's: if full soft = 0, middle=50, and full firm=100, then set them at 25.

Sways - I believe the M030 rear sway @ full firm is better matched with the stock from sway. Why? It helps dial out some of the built-in understeer they engineered into the car.

Cool. Thanks. Now the quest begins for a bigger rear (Swaybar that is).

I got one of them too!

I dont want a weltmeister front with your puny rear.

Z do you have any idea what springs are on the shocks i bought?

Dan,
I have the 30mm front and a set of weltmeisters. If you are going a different direction, I will gladly take your rear and run the M030s on both ends.

You should have bought my S2 jackie, it has all this nonsense done already, and the rollbar too.

and dan the answer is no, you cannot have my weltmeister strut tower brace (wont fit anyway).

BTW whats with your or Jons 16s? I want two more 8s.

Z said that if I install your 30mm bar I would need a Weltmeister rear as my 19mm is a good match with my stock 28.6 bar but not the 30mm. Soooooo, If I am buying your 30mm bar then I would also need your Weltmeister 22mm rear. If I stay with my 26.8 then my 19mm on viagra (stiff) is good.

I just took both struts off. I also took the calipers and rotors off. (I don't remember us doing that on your S2 when we did it. Did we?)

I am also thinking (no that I got my struts off and the strut mounts don't look too great) of putting in adjustable camber plates (racer's edge). Any opinioins on those?
