that is a very good point, honestly, don't bash me for this...i'd rather have an early car than a late one, i just like the interior setup...it's weird i know, but i prefer it...i just don't want to spend 2900 bucks on a car that isn't what i REALLY want to get...no offense Patrick, it's just not quite right for me...yet...

Mine is getting a clutch job now as we speak- otherwise it's in good condition... but the car is in Georgia-- probably too far for you to go since I expect you live in Pennsylvania.

just keep in mind with an early car, you have no idea what the true mileage is... even with late cars, you're taking a chance. It's just easier to lie about the mileage on an early car, with a late car, you actually have to tamper with the odometer
and +1 to what Andrew said, wouldn't worry about the mileage so much as how it's been cared for.

i'd sell the 84 n/a in my sig for 3K .. !
btw: that black ebay car has the right idle, temp, and oil pressure.. 156K isn't a big deal for these cars and once you get to that point chances are the clutch, a few seals, etc have been done. also IMO the late interior is nicer to drive and more comfortable (and easier to work with the wiring)

I understand what you mean completely, but on the early cars it's not so much the miles as the fact that they tend to nickle-and-dime you quite a bit more than the later ones. At least that was my experience in 10 years with a 1983. Good luck with your search!

btw i really appreciate your help in finding me a car, but from now on, let's not make fun of people because you "think" you know more about what someone else will sell a car for than anybody else...or do you just want to put me down because i'm younger than you? Is that it? I have done nothing but pour my energy into learning about and working on 944s for the past 2 years, and when a bright young individual puts his mind to something, he can learn a lot pretty fast, especially having ebay, rennlist, pelican, porsche hybrids, and nasa forums as his homepages.
Thanks again so much for your help! You did me a great service!

You're right. I apologize. I was an *******. Guess I was feeling super obnoxious and let my attitude get the best of me. Good luck finding a great car.

thank you for your apology so much! I'm actually being sincere here, i really appreciate when someone apologizes over the internet because it's sooo easy to just leave it alone...it's not like you know the person right?
Thanks to all, i'm probably going to drive up to Patrick's place on Saturday or Sunday and check the car out, give it a whirl and see if i really like what i see, because i sure do like what i see in the pictures.
Thanks again to all!
