Cool names? What happened?
Did the 944 just get left out? Among the Sharks and Turtles you find cars with mere numbers. Nothing to distinguish a car with a personality. We all know that 944's are just as charismatic as 928's and 911's. So why did everyone just go brain dead when they decided to simply refer to the 944 by its regular name?
I'm gonna start thinking of something clever, yet fitting.
The name of the 928 and the 911 both describe looks. The 928 does have a shark-like appearance and its a mean car to be sure, so "landshark", or "shark" is fitting. The 911 on the other hand is not particularly slow, but it resembles a turtle so well that you can't help but agree with the name call.
A 944, turbo or no is pretty agile for its size, yet its lines aren't as animal-like or alive as the "shark" or "turtle", so maybe there is a lizard name in store. Something that invokes a sense of authority without being brazen.
I suppose the 951 is enough of a different car to consider separate names for both it and the NA 944. Maybe I just have a complex because my girlfriend can call her car a shark...

That's bull crap because even a poor guy couldn't own one and we all know it. Even if he could it wouldn't run. So how about a name for the ones that are on the road?
944's go for the same prices as 90's MR2's which are hailed as great cars. 944's get shafted because they're not overpriced?

I don't call 928s and 911s sharks and turtles, I call them both frogs. And yes I even call 968s frogs.
944s don't look like any kind of animal. You might consider that a good thing? If you need a nickname you can call it an Audi

I'd probably crap my swim shorts if I saw a catfish like that staring me down, under water.
Catfish seems fitting, but not glamorous by any means. I could possible get used to it. I'm sure 911 guys didn't exactly like turtle at first.

What about calling it the Porsche Ora?
Ora is the native name used by Komodo locals, which means lizard.
Characteristics of the Ora include:
(1)Although they eat mostly carrion, studies show that they also hunt live prey with a stealthy approach followed by a sudden short charge. When suitable prey arrives near a dragon's ambush site, it will suddenly charge at the animal and go for the underside or the throat.[wikipedia]

When I was 10 I was swimming in Sebago Lake, in Maine with a mask on trying to catch minnos, etc, and that's exactly what happened, I took a turn and there was a 9inch catfish staring at me, and I never saw one before, so I peed and booked it outta there.
