1) Get a good lawyer. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

2) Slow down or get really good life insurance so your kids don't go on welfare when you hit something.

I've been on that road and 100 MPH is not really that hard to do when the road is empty. I take it this is probably the reason the cop didn't take him to jail immediately. If during rush hour then it was a dumb move, but without any other cars on the road I can understand the temptation.

With that being said I remember doing 100 MPH in Utah and feeling like I wasn't moving. Got pulled over but let go with a warning. Some roads just have the limits placed a little too low to be reasonable.

I think you should keep the car and spend more time on the track. That will help you get it out of your system. Also, don't do it on a back road, whoever said that is wrong. Keep it on the track as it is safe and legal!

In my area if you are doing 100+, and stop when you see the lights, they lessen it because everyone runs. (not me)
Not suggesting you to run, just saying what happens here.

Dont leave your kids with out a dad!!!!
Take it to a track, end of story.

How about, if you can't complete b or c, then you must choose a.

Don't forget to add a million dollar liability limit on your auto insurance for anyone else's family members you would probably mame or kill, too.

What I chose to do, got a good life insurance policy, a mil umbrella, and medical. You need all that if you have a kid and go to the track or even drive normally on the streets especially in sue happy communifornia.

ooh, thats gonna hurt. I thought my 53/35 ticket was bad. Get a V1 radar detector or a passport, and slow down, especially on GA400.

Hmm... I had my 944 for 4 hours before I got my first (ever) speeding ticket.

It's not the fastest car (straightline wise) I've ever owned, but I was really enjoying driving my new baby back home, and well... I didn't know the highway cops here had rear-facing radar at the time, so I slowed down gradually.

Now, I stand corrected.

Pinged at 137kmh in a 100 zone, but after talking a while, I saved 180 dollars and he wrote it up as 120kmh :-)

He also let me know what the rules were in NZ regarding losing your license etc - 50kmh over the limit and it's all said and done, get out and walk...

So, now I save it for the track or occasional backroad raids - which are much more fun than motorway speeding anyhow.

No-one really needs a radar detector IMHO - just think - about tickets, about the possibility of a random tire blowout (glass etc), and remember those waiting for you at home...

:-)

I had a radar detector, never really liked it. Now that CHP uses Lidar it's pretty much useless and not having it just gives me more reason to be cautious and not drive any more than 10 over the limit.

Btw, doing over 100 can get you into lots of trouble no joke. I was in court the other day and saw a guy lose his license and his job because he had two 100+ speeding tickets (he drove for a living and got his license suspended for a month, needless to say, he wasn't able to work anymore). Yes, taking it to the track is a good idea for getting it out of your system. Next one under that is taking it to a twisty where you can still get the rush while staying under the speed limit. Highway speeding, bad idea, your tire gets a blowout and you're dead.

So a hypothetical question: I go for a ride in my friends hopped up EVO and he immeadeatly does 105 in a 45. A cop kicks on his lights to pursue, but my friend runs from him and gets away. Would I have gone to jail? I definetly had no desire to do 105 down that street....but then I could hardly jump out or say stop either...
Apparently alot of people run from the cops where Im at, and the quick ones get away with it, and there are alot of yellow evo's running around here too.
