I think it is worth $12,500 and I am sure I can get that if I wanted to. So to me they are correct.
Respectfully... I don't think an S2 cab is worth 12,500. I would love for it to be, and that's the whole point, the excellence report is based on the owners' world values, not real world values. You or I might pay the deserved price of 12,500 for your good looking car but people outside the Porsche world would not.

The '92 968 values are WAY off. Almost half of the prices of the '93s and previous year '92s. Must be a misprint.

I would think people outside the Porsche world would pay more. As said earlier they don't know what the real world value of these cars are. People think my Turbo is this exotic high buck sports car, it is but it has the lease $ value in my garage. They would freak if they knew they spent more on a snowmobile then I paid for that car.

Well this is not the case in CA. People here know the 944 is a german rx-7 and the 968 is just an old boxster.

People only pay well for 911s. And here, they pay REAL well for 911s.

I've never felt that those values in Excellence are realistic. They are only as good as the information that is used. Most of that is from readers reports. Not really a scientific sampling IMHO.

I hear what you guys are saying; however, for me they seem to be on. I guess it really depends on the market that you are in. In the DC area all P-cars seem to do well. I sold my 87 944 in 2006 for $5,700 and the Excellence value was $4,818 good and $6,450 excellent so to me it was on. I bought my cab in NJ last year for $12,200 and their value was $11,326 good and $15,188 excellent so again to me they were on. I of course have put over $2.5K into it but being realistic that is only worth about $300 bucks now. It really depends how motivated the seller is. In my experience all of the good 944s (or 968s) for sell are not by motivated sellers thus they are willing to wait for a person to pay what they are asking. Again just my experience...west coast I am sure is different.

you should check prices in europe or germany. seems like these cars are realy cheap only in us. maybe that has something to do with ugly bumpers :P

Agreed, 100%. There is also the issue that Bruce is using the reports from people who actually write in... what percentage of folks between whom a car changes hands actually makes it a point to notify the magazine? Chances are, the people who are taking the time to tell Mr. Anderson about their purchase are the same people who would be willing to pay extra $$$ for a platinum on brown 83 944 <cough, cough>. Likewise, they may also be the same people who understand that $5k for a 50k 951 is a deal, and needs to be snapped up.

The average joe bag-o-doughnuts on the street completes the purchase and is none the wiser.

I would use them for insurance estimates, however.

It has to be, the "so-so" for a 89 S2 coupe is $1,971 more.
