Random ?: Any suggestions for Garage floor Cleaner?
Hello all,
I recently started doing work on my new-to-me 968 at a friend's house. It has gone very well except we knocked of quite a bit of steering fluid and engine oil grease onto his garage floor. Also some steering fluid has leaked and want to clean all of it up for him once I am done with the car. I know I can head to Lowe's and ask there, but the employees located here are not all that knowledgeable... so I thought I would ask this great forum for advice.
It is just a typical concrete garage floor, no finish.
Thanks in advance!

Kitty litter. Pour it out and let it soak up the lose fluid then grind it into the concrete with your shoes. The powder will soak up the fluid in the pores of the concrete. Sweep away and you can finish off with some degreaser if that doesn't clean it well enough for you.

HD sells products under the Behr name that can assist and address your issue. They have two forms of concrete cleaners which you may want to perform a test on a small area. The more mild product is the Behr concrete degreaser/cleaner (No. 990) which will remove about 80% of the oil on concrete floors. Behr also sells a concrete etcher(No. 991) which is aplied with a mop and cleans anything...again perform a test and wear protective clothing, goggles etc.
I personally used both products but for different applications. I used the degrease prior to laying down tile in my garage and the etcher when removing rust stains on my patio.

Thanks for the replies. When saying I can use degreaser, can I use engine degreaser?
I don't think this is so bad that it requires high-strength products, so I hope the kitty litter thing works... and maybe use some of the degreaser I already have.

Super Clean. You can buy it by the gallon at Autozone. Mix it with water. Do not use engine degreaser. The garage will smell forever.
Mechanic for 15 years. Best stuff I've ever used.
Oh, and best handsoap is Zep Reach. Has pumice, doesn't smell and doesn't dry out your skin.

I use a degreaser called Super 11. spray it on, it turns purple (from a kool-aide green) scrub with a push broom, rinse with a hose, dry with squeegee, go to fridge, find beer, consume.
it's bio-degradable, and works on anything. I've used it in the past as a wheel cleaner (though it's not the best at that), laundry detergent, interior cleaner, carpet cleaner (amazing on carpets), cleaning cement, lawn furniture, etc. and it's just great!
that said, it's made and sold by a place locally called Glaze Distributors. it's $11.00 for a gallon of concentrate, and generally, it's 3 parts water, 1 part super 11. I don't know if they have a website, but I highly recommend the product.
