Default Why do my brakes feel like mush?

My brakes feel like mush, I push the pedal and nothing happens until its about 1/2 way down, even then they feel weak.

They brakes felt absolutely great until a few days ago, change was overnight.

It has also been very cery cold past few days.

Tonight I changed the front pads, they were a bit thin, left the rears, had good pad left.

Then I bled them with a Motive power bleeder, starting with the farthest caliper in.

The pass front caliper on the outside bleeder, I unscrewed the valve and got nothing, so I kept going until the valve completely came out! still no brake fluid!! It slowly started seeping out, so I put the bleeder back in and closed the valve.

I pumped the motive to 10 psi, and that pressure remained constant throughout.

All other bleeders bled normally. clarks-garage is down right now

Is my master cylinder going bad?? Is it possible for some water in my brake line to have frozed and created a blockage??

You most likely have a block. Take the hose off and see if you can blow through it. If you cant then that’s you issue but if you can then the problem is farther up the system. The petal feels soft due to no flowing fluid.

I would not do this.^

It's probably a worn/leaking seal on the master cylinder.

Why would only one side not function if a seal was out in the master cylinder?

I didn't read it carefully the first time that only one caliper had an issue. Usually mush = bad seal. Maybe it's a caliper piston seal that's leaking and letting a bit of air into the system. Maybe the old rubber has lost some of it's resilience due to the cold weather.

I would pull that caliper, remove the caliper hardline and blow everything out good with brake clean, then replace the pots and seals, reinstall and rebleed.

I think the clogged caliper has nothing to do with the bad master cylinder.

Do you have brake fluid on the driver's floor by the pedals? This would indicate MC probs.
