I just called the guy and smashed into to check how he was feeling tonight and he was grateful for the call and let me know he is sore but alright.

Nice guy... i probably ruined his day too.

as long as you're ok. cars come and go, limbs and stuff like that dont :>

I swapped ends on ice covered with snow two months ago but luckily didn't hit anything.

How sad... I wish you the best, the car really decided to take it for you, they only do that for the really good owners

It would not have mattered if you had ABS anyway.

I'm amazed that some people think ABS can defy the laws of physics. If there is no traction, ABS will just let you roll into something rather than skid into it.

I was going by my college last year in the snow... the roads were covered.
Someone two cars in front of me left his blinker on for about 1/4 mile.... turned it off then decides to pull over.
Th car in front of me made a miraculous stop somehow, and I eased on my brakes (NOWHERE NEAR locking up) and I just sat there and watched and my car slide towards the guy in front of me. Luckily I was able to turn even though I had no traction, and I slid sideways long enough to stop before hitting anyone. Also lucky no one was in the opposing lane.

All this going 35 in a 50 on a flat road. I HATE snow/sleet/ice/slush with every drop of blood in my body.
Always crazy when you get into a situation like this... I didn't feel scared at all until after I started going straight down the road again.

Good luck with the car, though!!

You could tube out the front end and make it into a GTP.

I thought I could save it...or at least I tried to save it until about 10ft from that mean rear hitch and then I just clinched and prepped for the inevitable
