Default So, I'm looking at new tires for the 951

Like I said, I'm looking for new tires, any recommendations? I have yokohama AVS100 now in the stock sizes. I'll be installing them on 89 turbo S/CS wheels.

The new hot tire (street, summer) coming out in stock sizes is the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1. Have a look.

I've had multiple sets of AVS's and have had no problems with road noise or quick, uneven wear.

I am using cooper zeons. They are pretty sticky and do good in the rain.

if your on budget you can't go wrong with the fuzion zri's. they out preform tires that cost way more.

Agree, I really didn't like the ES100's on my car, Bridgestone 750's now - much better street tire, almost everyone likes the Michelin pilots sports also. For me on the turbo, the 100's were noisy and felt less predictable in hard corners.

Noise and unpredictable is how I would describe them. The yokohama's are staying on a set of cup design 93 wheels and the TURBO S/CS wheels will be used for autocross and 2 or 3 track day's during the summer.

I have mounted a couple sets of these tires, and was VERY disapointed in the quality of the tire, all 3 sets took excessive weight, and it wasnt consistant.

falken azenis have good grip on the street. they work well for about 3-4 laps on the track, then they get slippery as heat builds up. this was on a miata, so I would expect them to go off quicker on a 951.

I had es100s on prior and I found them to be very predictable on the track when sliding them around and consistent as they heated up. Maybe they work better with less weight?

i did notice the es100's were better on my 914 than on my 944 n/a. My 944 was very well balanced and easy to drive but w/ the yokos i could barely keep it on the road driving hard in the twisties. PUt on some toyo T1S tires and they were night and day. Not sure what they are called now. 914 did great w/ the yokos no complaints.
