Question Fan problems

First off I have an 88 924S. The passenger side fan stays on constantly. I thought I fixed the problem by replacing the fan with a new one but no luck. I have to unplug it or it will drain the battery. It doesn't stop even with the ignition off. Is it the switch? Any ideas because I am stumped?

the fans run after the car shuts off for a minute or two. check the fan relay and the thermoswitch and see which is busted

I replaced the thermo switch and still no luck. The fans kick on to late. Now what?

Check the AC switch in the dash, I would unplug it and see if the fan stops. It activates the AC System relay that turns on the AC fan relay that powers the fan.

It no longer stays on to long but they kick on to late still. They kick on when the temp hits the 3rd mark on the gage. It fixed the staying on to long issue but the late activation is still a problem. I forgot to mention that in the first post. Sorry.
Thanks

If it turns on at a higher mark then the themo switch should be looked at. Remove it and heat it in a pan of water on the stove. When it closes, measure the temp of the water.

Maybe it is not electrical. Maybe you have a clog in your cooling system.

Why would the fans kick on late because of a clog in the cooling system? They should kick on at a certain temp no matter what.

If the water is passing over the temp sender and the switch at different speeds/volumes.

If the water is passing over the sending unit how is it not flowing and cloged? What do you suggest to fix the not flowing issue?

Have your system flushed for starters. I know a lot of members don't recommend, but rewiring your fans is easy and for me, it works better than stock wiring. I now have a proper resettable circuit breaker, 30 amp fuse and a fresh, easily accessible, readily available and cost effective relay.

I flushed the system when I changed the thermo switch. I used 50/50 peak and fillled to the correct level. It cools perfectly but I just want the fans to kick on earlier. When do yours kick on?

I have a low temp switch and an aftermarket temp gauge (read degrees). My fans kick on around 180 degrees. I have them wired so they both kick on. I also have, on a separate circuit, a manual switch for the fans.
