Default Fuel rail pressure?

Ok, put on the autometer fuel rail pressure gauge to see about a starting problem. What should it be at during idle? Ill post a video of it tonight.

If you don't feel like checking pressure, disconnect the vaccum lines to the fpr and dampener and smell them for gas. Gas in the vaccum lines=bag diaphragm, just had that problem. Don't think it would be a starting problem, however. If you think it's fuel related then it would be with the pump/filter. Can you hear the pump turn on when you turn on the ignition?

Yes I can here the pump turn on. I replaced the pump check valve some time ago to as I was told this was the first thing to check when it takes a few cranks to turn over.

Link to Video Looks like idle is at 30psi and on the gas is about 40psi.

Ok what bar fuel pressuer regulator do you have? If it is the 2.5 bar (likely if stock) it should be 36 to 37 PSI. If you have a 3 bar it should be 44 PSI.

Now in my case I have an adjustable FPR and to get an accurate reading I need to disconnect the vacuum line from the FPR.

14.7 x bar number= Lbs.

As other have stated, you need to disconnet the vacumm to see the 2.5 bar (36.8lbs) pressure.

Ugh... come on guys...

http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/fuel-01.htm That will show you what it should be at...

Engine off, relay jumped = 36psi +/- 3psi
Engine on, idling = 29psi +/- 3psi
20min Leakdown Pressure = 14.5psi

If it does not hold pressure while fuel pump is off, you could have either a bad check valve or a bad pressure regulator or your fuel damper is leaking through the diaphram.

If you've got the 16 valve engine, it should be at 48psi +/- 3psi at idle (engine on, no throttle)

I had a bad fuel pressure regulator on my 951 (same psi rating as a 944), the fuel pressure was too high and it would not hold pressure with the fuel pump off. Removed part, shook it, it jingled, i replaced it, it works perfectly now.

Good luck!
