Default How much should I pay for this 951?

In my hunt for a new car, I came across this beauty (With the help of a PCA member). First the pictures.

Now, the numbers. It has about 80k on the clock, and he's asking $9k. It's an 87. Is this worth the price? I might be able to talk him down to 8, but I'm sure that's as low as he'd go. I've never seen a 951 look as good as this one, but the age makes me wonder. Even though it's super clean, and has low miles, is it worth that price?

Depends on the maintenance and the record upkeep. What kind of options? Post some more information, and that will help us to better determine a good price.

Wow - I have seen a lot of 944s and this is only the 2nd one that I know of that has full leather in the tan color. Only know of four out there with full leather in black. Very very rare interior option and it looks to be well maintained. The door panels have leather on the lower section, the lower portion of the dash is real leather and the center console and cassette cover will be leather. Also the backs of the seats should be real leather. Looks from the pictures that they are. I would buy that car for that reason alone and get some different wheels on it

I would also put the turbo logo on the back in ther correct location - makes me wonder if the car has been painted. On the front when you look down at the headlight covers you should be able to see the bar that the headlights rotate on and it should be zinc colored and not have black overspray on it....

How can you tell its "full leather"? Looks the same as both of my cars.

Looks like a nice car --- but check maintenance. It probably has been repainted, but looks like a excellent repaint.
If everything checks out -- it would be worth $9000 or more here in South Carolina. Buy it.

See the extra stiching on the door panels just above the armrest? Also the stiching on the edge of the armrest itself? Also the stiching on the edge of the center console?

Yep, also stiching around the glovebox and on the lower dash panel. And on the parking brake handle.

My track car is full leather Even worse the dash is perfect but some doofus PO screwed four big *** holes in the leather to mount a CB.

I was gonna swap that dash and the full black interior to my turbo but I'll have to get our buddy at 928 leather to fix it up first.

That said, looking at the car, if it was stock, it would have to be perfectly maintained for 9K. It is in nice shape, but what about receipts. It's about due for a waterpump unless it has been changed. If it's modded that depends on whether it has the mods you want. Otherwise they are worth zilch.

That does look like a nice example... if you really want one it seems a good platform if you could get it for 8.

It came up clean on CARfax, so I don't know what the story is behind the centered turbo logo. When I call the guy tomorrow I will definitely ask though. Maybe it was just repainted earlier in life, because the color matches the VIN. It has power windows, power steering, AC, 4 wheel ABS, dual front airbags. That's all CARFax lists, i'll ask if there's anything else tomorrow.

PS - I kinda like the rims!

How does the color match the VIN? Maybe you mean the paint code on the options sticker?

My mistake. I glanced at the model info real quick and I thought I saw something about color. CARfax reported nothing about color that I saw after I looked it over more carefully.

Could be a preference of taste. Maybe hes trying to be like the new carreras?
