Or... even a BMW 850?!

That's definitely a car that I truely believe will be worth it's weight in Gold in about 20 years.

The early Bimmer V12's are beyond problematic. 740/840 are a much better choice.

They aren't so bad if you know how to work on them, and parts are still readily available. I've never personally owned one, but I have an uncle who owns two BMW dealerships in Holland and has his own collection of rare and unique BMWs. If you can afford it, a 12 cyl BMW is far superior than the other motors. Unbelievably smooth acceleration, and it just continues to push you further and further back into the seat as it builds RPMs. It's a totally different experience to say, a big block Muscle car which is jerky and shoves your ***** into your crack. It's a much more refined power that builds through the mid-range into the upper rpms.

i'd get a boxster, they are such good values right now it's hard not to get one.

If I get rid of my 944 I'll probably get a boxster as my next car.

from what I've read only certain years have problems, mostly motors that blow up. The higher milliage ones should have a good motor and prosches are generally reliable from waht I've heard.

funny how parts for the boxster are cheaper than for the 944..... probably cus there are lots of boxsters around.

theres a 99 boxster for 13, 500 at a dealership here they can't be that bad to maintain....

The Inline 6 is one of the best cars ive ever ridden in. These cars are seriously underpriced.

There are some electrical gremlins.

The ride comfort, the power everything, the stereo system. It has everything that modern cars have. Ill bee keeping this one for a while!

or maybe a porsche 928 S4, but for a daily drive I would think a boxster would be more reliable and cheaper to maintain than a 928.

I looked into both of those two, fun and great looking (maybe not the one with pininfarina influence) but reliability is a huge problem with both.

I have to warn you about turbo's, they cost about $3k with a K04 upgrade, then a tune will run about $2k, and you will have yourself a 400whp car capable of runing mid-high 11's in 1/4 and beat pretty much anything on the street off the line

A6 or S4, pretty much same thing, but one is bigger then the other (which has more after market stuff available)

I would spend some time on finding a good example of a E36 or E30 (with very heavy emphasis on E30) M3
I'm looking into A6 2.7ts with a tip tranny. I drive in traffic a lot and I heard the turbos tend to last longer in tip cars. Can you tell me anything else as being a PO?

I had a 86 528e for a little while, I liked it. Not quick but fun and reliable for sure. As for the 750il (300 hp, unreliable electronics, thirsty, 4 speed trans, and 4,000+lbs) sounds like a 928. Maybe not the last part. BMW 6s are much more reliable than their V12s too so I've heard.

I guess early boxsters 97-99 have the same RMS problems as 911s along with other little faults that can cause a major problem. I've heard 99s are actually better off than the earlier ones and by 2000 most of the problems were taken care of. The mid engine configuration and convertible top make it difficult to service by most mechanics. Parts are naturally cheaper because the cars newer and there is more demand for parts. Don't get me wrong I'd still probably get a boxster for their handling and simplicity to drive just I'd look for a newer one. I was looking at them when I got my 951 as they were in similar price ranges but the 951s superior performance did it for me.

Wow I guess I'm a quote *****

To my eyes the Cayman is a beautiful car, and it will be even more beautiful ten years from now when I can afford one. Boxsters don't look quite as good to me, but this aftermarket roof changes everything (if they drop the price):

I like my 944 turbo. I can't think of a better all round sports car for 10k. That is being said after 3 years of ownership.

+1 on the S2000. It is much more responsive than a 951, although much less practical. Get a $1500 Toyota pickup at the same time.
