Well, $1 plus the cost of a replacement fuel tank (~$125).

Along the lines of "best offer" ads, I drive by this car on a regular basis:

http://nh.craigslist.org/car/512664388.html

It hasn't moved in months and is currently buried under several feet of snow. If I had more time/knowledge/money/guts I'd make an offer for what I think it's really worth, which certainly isn't the price in the ad.

I stopped to check it out in the summer and just gave it a cursory look since I was on my way to a basketball game. Every time I think I'm ready to make an offer I remember that "the most expensive car in the world is a cheap Porsche".

lol true. it'd be good for someone who wanted a track car, gotta take out the tank anyway, might as well put in a fuel cell

My favorite part of the ad...

I put a new battery in it and started it with starting fluid, so it does run, but selling as is.
I want some starting fluid!

You could buy it at WalMart if you really want it.

Never heard of it, therefore sounded funny. Still does sound funny and I wouldn't waste my money.

Must be an age thing Starting fluid comes from the good old carburetor days Spray it down the throat while someone else is cranking the car over, should fire right up. It's still readily available at most autoparts stores, usually with the small engine stuff(lawnmowers etc..)

It's ether, we use it in the winter here for starting diesel tractors. Comes in an aerosol can. It will fire readily in a diesel motor and makes for an easy start in cold weather, which we have lots of in Manitoba. Works on gasoline motors too.
Never tried sniffing it for a cheap buzz, but it should beat gasoline!

Yeah we have it here in Ireland too... Its called "Easy Start" but its not recommended as the diesel engine becomes like an alcoholic ... It becomes addicted to it and will not start without it....!
