LOL....not really true, but funny anyway.

People start using it on diesels when they have one or more glow plugs/their block heater going bad. As the actual problem gets worse and worse, they think they always need starting fluid....but what they really need to to fix their pre-heat system.

Using too much of it on small (lawnmower/blower/weedwhacker/etc) is a good way to scratch the crap out of the bore as there's not enough lubrication. Other than that, when used it moderation on carbuerated gas or diesel motors, it shouldn't cause a problem. That being said...if things are in good shape, you shouldn't need it at all.....with a few exceptions (I had a '69 VW Beetle with 2 62mm weber carbs with no chokes on them - normal cold weather starting procedure included running from the back to the drivers seat a few times).
