becouse of the way porsche designed there shift knod .you dont have much to choose from . what i did is removed the shift lever from a totaled vw golf , cut it in half then removed the one in the porsche cut that one in half and welded the top half of the vw shift lever to the bottom half of the porsche shift lever.got a MOMO boot and **** of my liking and reinstalled it . doing this i now have a shift **** that ,to ME looks and feels better .

Anyone figure out a cure for the vibration caused by aftermarket shift *****? I am looking around for a stock shift **** to put back on my car, simply because i cant stand the vibration and buzzing sound i get from it.

Definitely not original to the car. One of the better modifications I have done IMHO.

Cheers!

part of the vibration is from the gap in the shift rod tube(from transaxle) -to- shift rod (where **** goes)...that joint is metal-on-metal and the after market stuff isn't made with vibration dampening. (notice how heavy the factory **** is) Even a new shifter installed still has the slop since the rod is usually not replaced. There's a good thread about drilling out the rod and putting 924 plastic bushings in...this will eliminate the annoying sound from the after market *****.

1 of my winter projects actually.
