Is this car worth it?

Is this car worth it?
As I am looking to sell my current 944, I want to replace it with...none other than another 944. I've been keeping my eye out for deals I think I may have found one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSC...QQcmdZViewItem
The interior is a little thrashed, but it's not horrible. I will be able to go check the car out soon, and was figuring I would make the guy an offer around $5500-6000 (which is kbb for a fair 944s). Would this be a good idea?

I think it'd be a pretty good deal, especially if the internals check out. If it actually only has 60k mi, that car should run for years. You could get that interior looking good for another grand.
Definitely get a ppi, then you'll know what its really worth.

As soon as I figure out what a ppi is I'll get right on it. I'm gonna CARfax is later, and probably call the guy tomorrow, see if he'd be willing to meet me half way so I can check the car out (I'm going to Florida in a few days).

I would say it has way more than 59k miles. Looks more like 150k. Look at the wear on the shifter and the carpets. Seats can be redyed easy. I have never seen a dash that bad, it is horrible.
But if checks out than it maybe a good car. Ask for maintenace records. I would not go over $5500.
I have been known to be wrong.

That dash looks like leather, and is dried from sitting in the sun forever. You can have zero miles and it will look like that. That's also why the shifter is bare.
Getting that interior right will cost way more than $1000 if you pay someone, but I think it would be worth it! What a special 944! If you get it, don't cheap out on it if it's a full-leather car.

Agreed that the interior will need some work - i'd budget in around 1500 to do it right yourself (buying re-upholstery kits, etc and installing yourself) or about twice that (3k) to have a shop do it right
All told though, if the mechanicals are good shape, that's not a horrible deal. I'd get a pre-purchase inspection at an indpendent shop first though to check out all the internals.
Also, ask about maintenance records...do they have any? timing belt/waterpump, clutch, etc?

The interior doesn't bother me all that much. But I did an AutoCheck report, and it says back in 1998 the DMV listed the mileage as 92,000. But on the auction the guy lists it as 59,302. So it's suddenly throwing up huge red flags to me. I'm going to hopefully inspect it in person in a few days. Anyone know any good Porsche shops near Orlando or West Palm?

On the **** itself, if it's not sun damage, then it's whatever is often on the driver's hands (whether abrasive dirt, oil, other uncleanliness, or possibly some hand lotions). The condition of the shift **** is one of the things I evaluate a car and its owner by when I am considering buying it.
