Default Audio Problem

I have a aftermarket antenna and it turned off, so when I got home I pulled my gauge out (got a AFR gauge in place of the cubby.) I went to check the power wire for the antenna, and I guess it had a open spot on the wire there it's conncted to a 12v wire somewhere. Well anyway, something clicked and the radio turned off. I checked all the fuses, connections, etc... Nothing. Everything but the radio works. It's a Kenwood by the way. When you pull the face off, it has a security light that flashes. It was flashing. The eject CD button works, it will also pull in a cd. But other than that it doesn't do anything. I checked the fuse on the back, it's good. You think I fried the faceplate? TIA

Do you get static, or no sound at all? If you hear static, you could simply hook into the windshield antenna and forget about your broken antenna.

I'm not sure what the model number is, I'll get it tomorrow.

I get nothing, Nothing works. The windshield antenna is broken, which is why I got the aftermarket one. The radio doesn't even come on. Blank screen, no lights, etc... But the security light flashes and it will take a cd in and push one out.

Now my AFR gueage doesn't work. It also lights up but I get no readings. And my rear defrost doesnt work either.

You checked the fuses?

My afr gauge is messed up and lights up but doesn't read correctly - apparently it is an issue with the sensor/sensor harness in my case. Which is pretty damn annoying, because it never worked correctly.

There is a fuse on the rear of the radio, have you checked that?

Yeah, every one. Well it worked prior to me looking at the antenna.

You probably have power to the constant power input but no power on the switched lead. That would make the head unit think the key is off. If you can pull that harness off the head unit check all the red and yellow wires for power when the key is on.

There might be an inline fuse you missed or more likely there is a blown fuse for some seemingly unrelated thing in the fuse panel.

Funny thing here, right... I was testing a radio last night that I am selling... it's an older kenwood with the same thing going on in this thread. I paired red and yellow to the + on the battery and grounded as usual, fired up fine... but sans red, no go.

Well the radio was working fine, has been since I got the car in March. Nothing is wired up wrong. I've checked every fuse, and relay on this car I would find.

bad ignition switch? It prob. has an accessory circuit that turns on the radio and anything else hooked to it- i would check that first.

Check for B+ on all red and yellow wires at the head unit with the key on. Usually there is one red and one yellow, for some weird reason the Clarion in my 928 has two of one color (yellow I think) and they both need power. It looks like you have the constant power but blew the switched power, which was probably hooked to both the antenna and the head unit. Yellow is usually the constant power and red the switched (key on) power. There could be an inline fuse in the harness for the head unit, it could even be an old one from a previous stereo.

I'll look for an inline fuse somewhere, I know there isnt one on the harness for the radio.

Checked it today after work Dan, tried what you said and it still didn't work

There may be a small fuse on back of the receiver.
