I maintain that the EQ is a part of the 10-speaker option and the EQ should be there. if it is not, that's an anomaly. There was no option code for a 10 speaker setup without the EQ/power booster, and with what I know about factory car audio I do not think they would spec a system like that without the additional amplification.
In my 12 years in a Porsche dealership, i have never seen a car been used for parts and those parts not replaced before it was sold. Domestics may pull crap like that, but Porsche dealerships generally dont. Once again the vehicle harness is built vin/option specific, the radio will not work without the eq. It would have to be completly rewired. And you are wrong there is option for stereo without eq as per manual and mine and other lister cars.

According to the electrical manual, there are 2 10 speaker packages, one with eq and one without, anf then there is the standard 4 speaker system.

Rightfully so?? WTF. Everyone who knows about these cars know that in 89 they had 180 mph speedo's. This is alarming. If he isn't honest about that, what else is he hiding. You are wrong to have that type of attitude.

Yeah, it looks like the seller is a car dealership. They don't know porsches, they don't care... they just want to sell the thing.
edit: just looked at it again, notice that it says auto transmission... then further down it says 5- spd manual?

Bought it from the original owner and converse with him often. He never touched the audio in the car, only put Autothority chips in it. Then it came to me and I canned the original and put in a CD head unit. I have the old cubby that came out if anyone wants it.

Yes, OK there might be a car or two that left the lot without the EQ (probably did not leave the factory that way.) I worked at a dealership when I was in HS and those guys would add and remove a few things if that's what it took to make a sale.
According to the Autotrader ad, the car has never been titled. If so I would wonder if the car got messed with a bit and a few parts borrowed off of it over time. Someone might have wanted to upgrade to a 180mph speedo, someone wanted an EQ. The car was just sitting there.
It must have worn dealer plates to get almost 10k miles without being titled. Can you put any number of miles on a car before titling it with the MSO?

If 10K is a magic number, the odd speedo starts to make some sense.
