Default N/A swap- motor swap in the boys car

so my almost brother in law (DV8NSX944) spun a rod bearing in his cute little red n/a the other day. When i say spun a rod bearing i mean more like chewed it up and spit it out into the oil pan. We located a motor up in Indy for it and bought it- 87 n/a motor and its currently on the stand half apart doing seals and a belt before we re-install it into the 86. We pulled his motor friday night and this weekend i picked away at it pulling the old motor apart as the new seals havent arrived from paragon-products just yet. The number two rod bearing was MIA but really its in a pile at the bottom of the oil pan. This makes for a hell of a knock and vibration. I also took the front suspension and rack assy up to the car wash tonite and pressure washed them to remove all the gobs of crud that was on there from that oily heap of a motor. Found out that the nice header that was on the car is cracked so we'll be using the big heavy cast manifolds that were on the 87 motor. Anyway here are some pics and if anyone needs an n/a head/ block/ parts in general let me know as we pretty much have two of everything including the a/c pump and alternator as well. Have to try to make up some of the $ it takes to put the new motor back together.

What were the headers made from? Why not weld them up and run em? If I'm missing something I plead ignorance based on being a newb..

headers are factory and they have a tendancy to crack in that spot- i could easily weld them but i dont feel like pulling them again when they crack again.
