Look in the top left hand menu under "sponsors." Welcome to Rennlist and take care of that 83. Not many of them imported to the U.S.

Do you have any maintenance records for your car?

It's most likely that at this point in time the water pump was eventually subsituted with an updated version. This requires an "update kit" but your car probably already had this done and you would just need a regular water pump (944.106.021.24), not the early kind (944.106.021.20). Remember to order the gasket as well.

At any rate, it's important to check. Maybe someone can chime in on how to tell them apart if you can while on the car. Mine had been updated when I bought it, so I couldn't tell you.

If your car hasn't been already, plan on using the updated style pump and roller. This uses the timing belt guard rail for the belt as well. You have to cut the back timing belt cover a little to make the new pump fit, but it isn't a big deal (the newer covers were already cut out). It's pretty rare to see an 83 with the old style pump still on it, usually it has been replaced and updated.

Where are you located? Are you thinking of doing this yourself? Would be great if you are, but is kinda involved the first time through. Would be great if you could pair up with someone on here to walk/talk your through all the things that are needed and recomended while doing this. http://www.clarks-garage.com/ is your friend!!

Part # 944 106 021PX is what my catalog shows as the correct one. It has the provisions for the update kit, and is the n/a type, not the turbo type. A remanufactured one should be around $150.00 and an OE service pump should be from 250-400 depending on who they are getting it from. I'm actualy showing an OE list price of $503.85 But no way anyone here'd ever pay that much. Much better suppliers out there.
