Default power stearing

I know a lot of you purists are anti-ps, so keep the 'convert to manual' ideas to yourself

My power stearing is sounding like it's from an old Ford pickup truck. Does this mean it's almost on the way out or is it just because it's freakin' cold outside?

The sound is a low pitch whine that happens when turning in close quarters at low speed.

true but mine just made the exact noise his was making the first real cold day i started it up..... i instantly turned it off and check the power steernig fluid and it was wayyyyy low... filled it up and no noise. If you let it go to long I am sure it could ruin your pump though.

As 944s2guy mentioned, when low on fluid they tend to 'groan'. They also groan when its real cold out. Make sure you fill with ATF, NOT power steering fluid.

ouch common mistake, it sounds weird to put ATF in the Power Steering dosen't it......I dont know the bad things that might happen from this but i sure would drain as much out as you can before you drive it....

I get so freaked out by these cars...... I ALWAYS consult my manuals before replacing any fluids getting torque specs etc....
