Should I or Should I not remove the Cruise Control??
The cruise control works perfectly so thats not a reason to remove it. I barely use eventho i do take long road trips with it. My reason for taking it off is less weight, something less to break, open up some space (MAIN) reason, and something less to install when i am done with the rebuild.

Might as well, but at the same time the entire system can't be more than a couple of lbs and I've never heard of it malfunctioning and taking anything else along with it. I'm wishing I had it on my car.

I don't mean to hijack, but I flipped the lever a few times to try and get it off, no luck. Hit the brake, no luck. Even cycled the key off/on while still driving, no luck. Ended up turning car off pulled over, removed the clip from the cruise module, started car back up, no change. Unpluged elect. connector to module, no change. Reached down and pulled gas pedal off the floor, started car and it was fine. I guess the cable had an internal bind in it that would not alow the cable to slide freely.
Was kinda scary for a few minutes tho.

I have a long commute to work and use cc frequently. I guess you could save a pound or 3 if you get rid of the servo. If you simply want to disable it, pull the connector off the cc brain. I don't recall if the cc is on its own fuse. If so, that would be the easiest way.

If it works, I would leave it connected. This is one of the best CC's I have ever used. Very smooth in operation, even going down hills. Unless this is a track car, the weight savings are very small and you wouldn't notice it.

I was thinking about pulling the cc off my 85.5 since for some reason the 88 didn't come with it. Ugly flannel door panels? Check. Ugly flannel seats? Check. Cruise control? WTF?

I put a 951 on a diet once - jettisoned the rear seat, AC, etc. - but I kept the cruise because I LOVE it and use it all the time. However, if you don't use it and you"re looking for weight savings, take it off. Every little bit helps.
