Default Ethanol ok? *eek*

I was at shell yesterday getting gas and a Merc Cl600 pulled up.
Of course being myself I leaned around the pump to take a quick look, the guy that owned it was nice, usually Mercedes owners seem like really ash-hoes.
Anywho... After I was done looking at the car I started pumping my gas (had already payed).
Once I had finished pumping my tank with 45 dollars worth of 91 (not even full) I closed everything up and proceeded around the car to get in. I noticed a sticker on the pump saying that the fuel could contain up to 10% ethanol by volume (I think).

SO... now I am stressing that the ethanol is going to make my fuel lines crack and catch my car on fire...

It will be fine. Ethanol takes a while to eat through seals. Just run through the tank of gas and don't fill up with the stuff next time.

We have no option. Winter gas here contains more than 10% no matter what grade.

isn't methanol the bad stuff. I though ethanol is fine for most cars, not sure with old cars like the 944.

It won't do him any good since all gas in Cali has ethanol, especially in the Winter. I wonder more why he runs 91 in an NA. It makes no difference at all other than draining his wallet faster.

It mentions it in the owner's manual, it says 10% Ethanol is fine. Don't worry about it.

This has been batted around since the beginning of time here. 87 octane is fine for the early low compression US 944. The Euro 944 and 88+ US 944 needed 89. The higher octane can actually cause problems for some cars during Bi-Annual smog testing. Seeing how it's nearly $3.65/gal now it's really even a bigger waste of money. If your pings on 87 it's more than likely carbon buildup, dirty fuel injectors, or ignition problems. I'm not bagging on you but dollars are getting scarcer as gas prices rise.

I agree. The only exception is at Costco where the 91 costs less than the 89 at other stations.

All gas in cali is like that. Same for Az too. I would be more concerned with using 91 in a 87 and older NA. Waste of money.
