Default My dash cracked while I was driving

and it was probably the single scariest thing that could happen while driving.

Just moseying along and suddenly CRACKKKKK and I'm looking around to see what just blew up into a thousand pieces.

quite disconcerting.

Thats what makes driving a 944 fun. Even worse than being able to hear and see a problem. You get to have a suspense filled mystery on your way to work, school, home, or wherever else you're going. It's enough to brighten up anyones day. It's like one of those train murder things, only thing is your life could be on the line which makes it that much more interesting.

That being said, I'm surprised it was a crack and not just a subtle rip. Did you hit a big bump or something?

In my sig pic I have a dash cap but I took that off a month or so ago because it was warped...recently the temperatures have been fluctuating considerably (today average temp was maybe 70 tops, yesterday it was 80ish...dips into 50s sometimes) and I guess the dash just didn't like it anymore. I don't think I hit a bump, was just driving and...

CRACK

Can't tell where it was though because the whole thing is pretty eff'd up..

It was a life changing experience that's for sure.

Now I'm wondering if it's beyond the point of repair to bother sending to Robb Budd.

Sooner or later a clean 944 dash will crack...it usually doesn't happen when you're in the car though.

You've obviously never spent much time in british sports cars...

I grew up around Austin Healey's (my dad loved them), fun cars..

We had an Opel GT lying around too, another fun car, aesthetically challenged and underpowered, but fun..
