There is kits like the one at automotion.com that are really easy. All you need to do is wire it up and mount the motor and attach it to the lock striker.

I used the OEM stuff and put it in my girlfriends car. Everything bolted up, gotta get the door harnesses out of a car that has locks tho.
The benefit to having the OEM stuff is it works hand in hand with the alarm system (89 or later) Which is what im putting in her car.

I found it simple because the car we did it to, a 84 had early type door locks so it was simple. Car with late type door locks, I believe 87.5 or later would be more time consuming. I'd have thought most of the 85.5+ 944s had automatic locks. We did a conversion to automatic locks, not remote locks btw.

Well I chose to go the factory route because alarm systems 89+ are run off the central locking system.
Even the 1988 cars had a seperate keyhole in the fender to activate the alarm. Im trying to mimic the setup from a 1989 car in an 1987 car (alarm system that is activated when the doors lock, with lighted door locks)

I had an aftermarket locking system and had to drill some holes but overall it was pretty easy.
Just do it right and you wont have to adjust everything fifty times to get it to work....ask me how i know

while you're in there...
You may as well install the remote door lock kit at the same time
