I found the Saratoga Sunroof guy. Any interest in NEW Saratogas?

I have been working on these for several months. They will be available for less than $500. It's not a real difficult project after the 914 ones I've already done. Just a matter of making the details work out to mount and seal properly (even though the originals didn't do that very well).
As you can see I did make several improvements from the original manufacturer on the 914 version, that make it a better product. Why just do what's been done before, when you can do it better? And the pricing will still be very reasonable.

I'm not just some guy out to scam the community, I will not accept any money on these until they are ready to ship. You can see what I've done with the clock LCDs

Just a matter of getting these right and being able to produce the quantity necessary to start selling these.

I have 3 different types of glass cut for the prototypes, I'm working on the machining for the mounting fixtures now, and have extruded a profile for the seal. Don't have any pictures as of yet, but if the price point is right, I'm sure I'll sell a bunch. I don't need to make a killing on each unit. Just need to do volume.

The game plan is to get a group buy together when these are ready and get a bunch out the door, taking advantage for continuous production I can offer them at a wholesale price. Effectively getting me free advertising, and getting any feedback if I need to tweak anything. This is how I did the 914 version. I was making modification on the latch system that was retrofit-able, to offer a mount that with tighten without having to over center and will be highly adjustable to each car.

As with anything you make, there is always a way to make improvements. The first run is a usable unit, that I'm glad to put my name on. However, if I make improvements I try to do so in a way that would allow for the originals to retrofitted. I don't plan to make any changes at this time and don't foresee any significant changes to the design as planned.
As with the group buys I've done in the past, I make these available at a rate that should you later decide to sell it you would not loose money on what they are being sold at later. I do have a money back policy that if my customers are not happy for any reason, I will take the product back and refund the purchase price. So far it has never been a issue.
Yes you are getting the 1st generation of these to be produced, but at a significant savings.
As far as making on in acrylic, I actually planned to do exactly that. As far as cost goes, they should be about the same, but the acrylic can be scratched. I may try polycarb instead. Still have a little machining to do at this point, but I'm making progress. If that stupid day job wouldn't get in the way.
