I found the Saratoga Sunroof guy. Any interest in NEW Saratogas?

Yes,
These are getting closer. I'm starting with the motorized version, as that's what I have to test on.
I'm currently wrapping up the fog light rills for the 914, the early rain trays, the 914 fiberglass airdam portion of the flexdams, and finishing up another new 944 part that required extensive tooling (8 molds).
Where I'm at on these is some machining, some rubber work and the fixtures for these. I need to do some testing to assure it will work as planned.
I will be able to make these in acrylic and glass, but as I have a company that buys thousands of square ft of glass (DIYRailing.com), the glass will be less expensive.
The LCD screens took 8 months to make, so, yes these things take time.

Yes, the latch haedware is in the process of being finished up. I haven't had as much time as I had hoped as I have another batch of the 914 version that I'm doing up now also. I'm down to one more part for the front assembly.
Hate to drag this out any further than I have to, but it looks like the procepoint will be sub $300, so I anticipate there will be a need to have the production ready to spool up. There will alos be some options that I will elaborate more on when I post the pictures of the completed and working prototype.
These things take time to get worked out. The 914 version took 2 years to get into production, I know we are coming up on that mark sooner than I would like, but the day job does get in the way sometimes.

Interesting, I know the mfgr of the saratoga tops, Pilkington; and have been speaking to them for the past 4 mths. They are currently mfg these tops and will be on the market in May 2012.
As the patent ran out some years ago, anyone can do this. Either way, whomever gets them out will have instant success.

I've heard nothing but quality problems with the original Saratoga tops (poor fit, leaks, wind noise), it'll be interesting to see if they fix that before going into production.
My money is on DHC8FO building a higher quality unit...
