Default Can you Stroke a 2.5 S to 3.0 using S2 parts?

Is everything else the same in the motors besides the stroke (crank, rods) in the 2.5 as is in the 2.7 ? (oops: edit: 3.0 S2)

I might have a line on a 2.7 S2 short block, but the block is cracked (or something.. said to be unrepairable)

s2 has a 3.0liter block. If its a 2.7 its just an 89 n/a motor- same crank as 2.5l just larger piston diameter. If its an s2 3liter, you can use the crank and i believe some custom rods to stroke your 2.5

ok. Thats even better. This guy I'm talking with doesn't know anything about the car.. just that it is an S2. My mistake on displacement.

So the rods on the S2 can't be used?

It is common to build 2.8L 944 Turbo motors using 3.0L S2 crank. The longer stroke with same bore make the motor a 2.8L. The 2.7L NA has a larger bore than the 2.5L, but the same stroke.

Use an S2 crank and 2.7L bore in a 2.5L and you get to 3.0L.

The rods on the s2 can be used. The pin placement is different on the S2 pistons to accomodate the 3.0L stroke. The rod dimensions are the same.
