Finally got the steering knuckle back on and can't find the bolt (I lost so much little stuff in the move). Can anyone tell me the size? Does it have a flat side of is it just a standard bolt and nut?

Well...
Whatever fits. The ball joint pin has the relief, not the bolt. I think that is a 10mm bolt, 17mm head size, probably about 50mm in length, and standard Porsche 8.8 grade. Dome lock nut. Put the nut on the back to preserve the threads and hopefully keep the bolt in if the nut falls off somehow.
Never hurts to use a longer bolt, drill the end, and pin it.

If you are talking about the bolt/nut at the steering shaft end where it connects to the steering box, it has a special locking washer made of what looks like copper and its the only one like that in the car. I am not sure why they did that but it may be worth it to buy it at the dealer. I know I have some floating around but finding something that small could be a problem.
