Well, it's time for the "kinda annual" Skaggs Springs ride in Norcal. There's more to it than that one road, but it's the centerpiece, so I named the ride after it.

This ride starts in Calistoga, carries us through the Alexander Valley vineyards of Sonoma County, up to the Lake Sonoma dam, then 35 miles via Skaggs Springs road to Highway 1 at Stewarts Point. From there we can either go south on Hwy 1 to Bodega Bay or north on Hwy 1 to Mendocino and take Hwy 128 back to Cloverdale at Hwy 101. The former is shorter and boring, the latter longer but very beautiful.

I'm thinking we do the north route and then I'll host a Beer & Brats BBQ at my place in Santa Rosa at the end. For those of you going back to SF or Sac, it'll be a good late afternoon rest stop before your final journey

Meeting place is the parking lot across from the grocery store on main street in downtown Calistoga. Try to arrive there with some gas in your tank so we don't need to be hunting down gas stations in the first 10 miles (there aren't too many gas stations in the first part of the ride). Meeting time is 8:45 and we'll head out at 9:15 (30 minute buffer time).

Let's start a "I'm in" thread here and also let me know if you are up for the BBQ so I can get a read on food and drink (it's on me).

DISCLAIMER: This is not a race and we'll be trying to be good citizens up here in Sonoma County. Fast and reckless driving on Skaggs Springs road is dangerous (and illegal)

Sounds like too much fun.

Let me start by saying, I can not come in the morning. . .

. . . Sucks, that section of Robert Louis Stevensen State Park is one of my all time favorite roads and your route runs right around my neighborhood. Like Roger, I agreed to be a Soccer coach this year and our 4th game is @ 8:30 on the 22nd.

. . . What really sucks that I gave Joe a hard time about all his " I cant come because. . . " excuses. Ahh, fatherhood just digs you a little deeper (well worth it, you know)

I am in for the BBQ at your place and can contribute edibles or help out in some way, Brad. If you go south at Stewerts Point, I may be able to hook up on the return run, but dont make plans on my account. North is much more scenic and twisty. We'll all hang out and oggle your Mille!

I will show up no matter what. I got the 951 running today but the 7psi maximum boost problem remains. Since I don't know what the air/fuel ratio is like I don't know if its a good idea for me to drive it too much. I might be in a black 740iL instead because I know you guys would hate it if I "tried" to follow behind in the avalon.

I'm in. Not sure what parts will have the car running, but I'll be there.

Put my name down! The option of going south means we get to do some real COAST driving as in ON the cliff. Also the grade to the south would be an incredible picture location. I drove through a porsche photoshoot there a few years ago

Damn!

I would so go if my new class wasnt hard as hell
Ive got electronics and this is week 1 of 3.

This is the most failed class in school, so I cant mess around with it.
Gonna be reading and studying for the next 2 weekends.
Gonna know how to use every part of a multimeter, test and make different kinds of circuits, know how and why electricity and circuitry works. First test is this wednesday I think...next one is friday.

Next week is on magnetism along with the midterm....fun fun lol

Take lots of pics and let me know how it is

Looks like we have 6 cars reg'd in the thread so far + me + my buddy with the '72 240z. Mark with his kiln red 911sc (the perfect 10) is a maybe. Matt, by all means drop by the BBQ in the afternoon. I'll PM you logistics later in the week.

Someone at work was talking about rain yesterday (rain in September, you say?).... I thought I was hearing things - looks like it is a risk for Thursday only, so we are ok... so far...
