Well I see what I'll be doing tonight. I went to start the car and heard a weird rattle and the exhaust was way louder than usual. I looked under the car, wiggled the exhaust tip and the pipe going into the muffler completely separated. Corrosion had completely taken out the weld between the SS and carbon steel. It separated about 2". Looks like a rummage through the shed and install the exhaust off the silver car. Why is it always the night before a run? Don't worry, I'll get it installed and be there barring a downpour in the morning. God, these cars are enough to test a saint, but I ain't no saint!

Edit: How's that for fast even with the old man factor applied? All done. Gotta love a good impact wrench.

Steve, you are a trooper !!

Weather Check - they are predicting rain up this way starting in the wee hours in the wee hours of the morning and all day tomorrow. BUT - probability is between 30-50%. I think the ride is still a go.

Soooo, the ride is still on. If it's really ugly here tomorrow morning at 6 AM, I'll post here - check back then for final confirmation.

/Brad

I saw a few drops, . . .

I just got back from Brad's and it was a lot of fun. I hooked up with the group on the last stretch of road - Hwy 128 between Cloverdale and Booneville. I got to meet some new people (Keith, Marlon, Lauren, Dan) and eat some good food. Steve and a zermatt silver 951 had to split off early and get home so I'm sorry I didnt get to see you and Karen. I heard he had some mechanical issues, but as I understand it, no-one had any damage. Billthe3 got his car going and was good to see him on the road. I got one semi-decent photo:

I must say, Shawn Morrison, your car is soooo nice. The color, the wheels, over those brakes, the splitter, . . .everything . . . It's quite a wonderful expereice to drive around with that thing in the rear view mirror. I think I like looking at it more than perhaps driving it. I hope someone posts a shot of it.

Sierra run in 2 weeks . . .

Never had to run the wipers except once for a mist one time. Some of the roads were wet from previous rain. All and all another great ride thanks to Brad, We got to drool over boostfeen's turbo 968, wow is all I can say. We had 10 cars. I logged about 410 miles and need a beer. Hopefully someone who took some pics will post.

Yeah the axles I reversed last year are giving up the ghost. My L outer CV is about toasted but made it home. The vibes were getting worse so we came back on a route with less shifting and turning on Hwy. 12. Sorry to miss the Brats at Brad's but we had a long ride home.

Again, thanks to Brad for setting this one up. Good Job, Good Drive, Good People, what more could you ask for?

That was a lot of fun! Thanks guys! I had no idea that there were so many people around here with extra parts. Now I know where to ask .

I feel I've neglected my 951, I'll take it out tomorrow and get some pics.

More pictures later, I'm really tired.

This is the only other problem that developed today...

man that was fun. the last half of skaggs is like, neverending. it just goes and goes and you're like "oh, there's that 1st gear turn, we're almost done" then half an hour later- "oh THIS is that 1st gear turn!"

great run guys, sorry i could only make half of it.

have roger refer me to his OB-GYN.

The threat of rain added some adventure to this year's ride, but I agree the roads were great ! We saw some good rain on the last 20 miles of freeway to my place, but no big deal ! Even though the maps I handed out had a major error on them, everyone found the right way and we all stayed together...

Thanks Guys/Gals for coming out. I had an awesome time too. Great to see you all again, always a pleasure to see Shawn's beautiful 968 and talk tech with him (one of my fav Porsche things to do!). I agree with Matt, it is quite a site in the rear-view mirror !

Reminder for those in the Norcal area, next Sunday (Sept 30) is the PCA Concours
at Ledson Winery on Hwy 12 (between Santa Rosa and Sonoma). It runs
9am - 3pm, it's free, and there are always some really nice Porsches on display. And, it's a good winery... 'nuff said there!

PS. Keith, thanks for the pics - mine are no better, so no need for me to post.
