Default Can I spray clear Acrylic Enamel over bare metal?

Working on a bit of funkyness for the track car. Save a couple pounds, gain some visual bling kinda thing. I took my set of bumpers from the parts car and sanded them down to bare metal.

Can I rattle can them with either clear acrylic enamel or the duplicolor clear high temp engine paint? Will it stick?

Krylon clear coat will stick to metal. Dries really fast too.

Silver was the german racing color long before white. Think back to the early Auto Union and Benz cars. At some point they switched to white but I've always loved the silver.

I'm not doing the whole car but I had spare bumpers and wanted to do a bumper pad delete anyway. Figured I'd strip them and see how it looks. I need to figure out what to do for end caps... Don't really want to run the guards red end caps over the brushed bumper, but don't know if it would be too ghetto without them. I at least want the car to look complete

You could find metallic silver paint made for plastic and give it a roughed up look

But that also means they won't rust right? Screw it then, I'll leave them as is.

Think clear paint is much lighter than colored paint?

No, not that stupid. Net weight savings comes from deleted bumper pads.

uh- aluminum oxidizes....looks real bad. I would self etch primer them and paint them red. Brushed bumpers would look ghetto.
