Haynes manual torque specs for balance shaft: WRONG!
Just a heads up to anybody doing a rebuild, the Haynes manual torque specs for the balance shaft housings are way off. Follow them and you are likely to strip out bolts. They spec an M6 fastener to 22ft-lb, factory manual says 6-7!

verified, factory manual does the conversion for you. The haynes wants you to twist them right off. The entire chapter 2 (engine) has some issues... install camshaft and then install head... right.

Typically even trying to torque a 6mm bolt to 6 ft/lbs you will strip the threads (even with my 1/4" electronic snap on Torque Wrench). You should just use a 1/4" ratchet and socket on those small bolts, and snug them up.

The little mouse at the library has the factory manual PDF, but the library's printer was broken.
The torque value of 6-7ft-lbs is verified, the factory did the conversion. The M6 bolt is the one that takes a 10mm socket.

Many of the things referred to in the Haynes manual have different names than we're used to... and sometimes they just name things wrong. I'm guessing that 22 lbft spec is for a different bolt than you're thinking of. 22 is way too high for an m6 bolt! I have stripped some while trying to apply 5 lbft.
Overall the Haynes book is a great resource, I would never start working on an unfamiliar car without it. It turned me into a wrench!
