Default Questions about Konis

Ive decided to go with the Konis to replace my 100k old suspensions. My question is how hard are they to install ?

Early or late car, front struts or rear shocks? Rear shocks are easy regardless of model. If your car is an early you have the strut inserts which are reasonably easy to remove. For later cars the old struts must be cut out.

What about '86 suspensions? Do they need to be cut out? Thanks.

I got lucky and found an ever so slightly used set of 4 originally installed on a late turbo. They bolted right into my late 944 and I even got to use the 951 front brake ducts as a bonus!

I dig them, they are stiff as hell - but I like it!

I just put konis on my car a week or two ago. It was pretty straightforward (on an early car), but I'd recommend having air tools handy. It feels like a completely different car.

89 here and I just ordered Koni sports, I'll do a write up and some pics of the front install. It looks like I need to modify the front struts. I'm going to budget Saturday and a case of beer.

The hardest part of the install is getting the strut nut on top. Because of the adjustability there is no provision for an allen wrench to hold the shaft while tightening the nut. Air tools will work but could damage the shock. Ive always used a pair of vice grips on the top of the shaft (the adjuster tab to be specific) to get them installed.

I have a Question how do you adjust the rear shocks?
After taking the shock off the car, you take off the dust cover, push down a button, then twist it to one of three settings.

You don't have to take the shock completely off...you can just remove the lower bolt and adjust them with the tops still bolted to the car.

From what I have been told most people set it to hard and leave it. I could be wrong though.
