Default 1989 944 on craigslist, cheap

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/390040775.html

that's right, just $995. I went over to see it today. It was repainted but it looked like a decent job. It had a few light smashes, the late interior was trashed (and I mean trashed). The engine ran great though and the tranny shifted perfect. Phonies, tinted hatch, and only 181,000 miles.

Oh yeah and the date of manufacture was 3/85.

Further inquiry revealed this is the exact same car Keith linked us to, where a reference was made to the 944 being a "truck" and having good "karma". The owner is an older woman and she was a complete DITS.

Obviously she is a dits . Did she offer you any white powder?

This is a special 944 that can change from a truck to a car in a few days. Oh, its price can also from $14,000 in days too.

Please tell us more about the lady, its entertaining.

Yeah, it's literally a few blocks from you, Joe.

The lady always referred to the car as "she" or "her", never "it". She told me 10 years ago when she was looking for a new car, her favorite and beloved horse died, and she saw the dancing horse on the Porsche emblem as a sign from God that she was meant to buy one. When I took it for a test drive, she let her dog into the trunk without even asking me. #1 I'm allergic to dogs. #2 I obviously can't push the car and test it's suspension while there's a mutt in the back.

The interior was worse than a junkyard car. The driver seat was torn to shreds, the arm rests on the doors were hanging off, the rear carpet was a blanket with a elephant on it....

well.... you could have, but you never know what the lady might do in a confined space with her mutt howling in the back and you stuck behind the wheel

good thing she saw a car err, I mean truck with a dancing horse before she saw a car with a prancing horse. if she did there would be a lot of cussing in eye-talian right now. I guess that was the sign, beat a beer burner instead of a wine sipper.

Sounds like great track car material. Rip the interior out slap on some good tires and drive it till it breaks!

the quality of the respray was good, but the fact that it has been so neglected made it bad. And the interior WAS nasty...With some random seashells and twigs on the dash as ornaments. ROFL

Real estate (hence parking space) is too much of a premium to pickup a junker around here. But at $995, it's almost worth it for me to buy it and immediately donate it for a tax-deduction...

How can you get anything for a tax deduction now? I thought you had to wait until the donatee sells it, gives you a receipt and you get to write off that amount. You can't just write off $3k for an old car donation anymore.

I saw that ad, too. I thought it was a bad joke. Get some camera phone pics. Did she remove the hatch or something?

yeah right.

I need to go to that area today or tomorrow, I'll snap some pics. I have to wear a disguise though, in case the lady is around and she sees me.

If anyone is seriously interested (why?) I did notice that all the interior issues were the kind that can be fixed easily (cleaning, replacing seats, dash cap) there wasn't anything ripped or broken besides the seats, the center armrest joint, and the dash cracks. The exterior is a different story.
