Per the VIN. Its a 88 911. Non S. With just about zero options. (Cruise Control, Electric Sunroof) 5-Speed. At least its still the original Guards Red.
However for a 959 Body Kit, you'd think they would at least put it on a 930, or a S. Not worth 35k imho.

I'm wondering if the dealer has no clue, or is the dealer hoping to sell to someone with no clue.
With the 959 tag, those that are aware of the model numbers would not buy it, knowing it is not a 959. If someone does buy it, s/he will have no idea how rare a 959 actually is.

Well for one, you'd be more likely to find it at a reputable dealer and not at some place called "hi tec imports"
I'm tempted to go and pick their brains about it..

Well it definitely had me fooled, until I saw how much it was selling for..
One of the biggest red flags when I first saw it was the fact that it was parked in the back lot of some warehouse next to a bunch of other Porsches and it had one of those big black and orange "For Sale" signs in the window.
I'll be up that way again tomorrow, I'll be sure to stop and check it out see who did the work and where they got the parts from.

Dude, you would NEVER see a real 959 on craigslist. Try the Barrett-Jackson auction.
I think the most appropriate conversion would be a 911 (964) C4S. Sure you won't have that whopping turbo power, but the 959 was engineered primarily to be a killer rally car and boasted AWD.
