Default Rear Coilovers w/ Tubular Upper Shock Mount (No T-Bar)?

I've read here through searches that the factory upper shock mount will not support the weight of the car without the t-bar... Will the lower mount on the banana(?) bar support it? This car will have tube steel upper mounts in the rear so I'm not worried about that part. Just want to be sure the lower will handle it in spirited driving... Keep in mind this car is a VW Rabbit so the vehicle weight is quite a bit less. With that said, I pretty much don't want to mess around with the t-bar at all if I don't have to. Simple is good..

The upper shock mount as well as the lower one are sufficiently strong to support the weight of the car without torsion bars. Even less to worry about going into a rabbit.

Wait are you putting 944 suspension onto a Rabbit?

Thanks ari... I guess if I don't feel good about it I can weld in a support brace or something.

Yeah V2. We'll see if it's going to work out as I do more research. Just don't want to go with the usual Jaguar or Corvette setups everyone always uses to convert over to IRS. And this way I can keep it in the family...

Many of my friends use coilovers for track duty. I agree with aribop.

There are stronger bolts for the lower mount from Racers Edge. Upper is fine until hardcore racing.

Not to rain on your parade...but why go with the 944 rear suspension? It's not the best design out there, and is a pain to work on. Wouldn't it be better for performance to go with a double-wishbone setup?
