Default Is this normal for fuchs or what?

I replaced my phone dials with a set of 15" x7/8 fuchs last weekend (kept the same tires) and now above 40mph I get a ton of tire/road noise, the drone is so bad I have to turn the radio way up so it doesn't drive me nuts. Also, at 70+ mph I get a lot of vibration and shaking in the steering wheel. Both of these problems didn't exist before I changed rims. I'm hoping that the tires are just improperly balanced or something so I don't have to live with this. Any ideas? Thanks!

Either that or you have other issues like flat spotted tires and possibly bent wheels.

When you say it looked straight, did you look at it when it was being balanced at the tire shop? If the tires and wheels are good, then it should not increase the vibration in your car any more than your previous wheels. You probably want to check to see if your struts/shocks are leaking and not working roperly.

My fuchs do that too. But my tires are severly worn down, flat spotted, and probably not balanced correctly.

My Fuchs run smooth as glass, so clearly something is amiss here.......

I get the shakes too at higher speeds, the car rolls straight as an arrow though..lots of owners seem to have this shaking at 65 - 80 mph..

my PO experieced this too back in 1992. Porsche dealer service receipt says.."check vibration in front end at highway speeds" "balance front tires and adjust wheel bearings". no further mention of it in later receipts so maybe that corrected the shake. I'm running new tires too so I'm thinking a re-balance is in the cards.

How do you "adjust wheel bearings"? don't you re-pack the bearings?

any luck?

Just take a look at your current Fuchs and see if there are alot of wheel weight to balance the tires. If there is alot, the rim could be slightly bent on the inside half. Fuchs are lightweight and strong but they aren't pothole proof

Also if they balanced the wheel with wheel weights only on the inside, then this could be part of your problem as wheels balance best with weights on both ends of the rim.
